Preparation and Performance of Novel Flavonoid Phenols-Based Biomass-Modified Phenol Formaldehyde Resins

Low toxicity, environmentally friendly and sustainable bio-based phenol–formaldehyde (PF) resins are the primary factors health goals that researchers need to consider when modifying PF resins. Two novel biomass-modified were synthesized using two flavonoid phenols of daidzein naringenin with rigid backbone structures. The results show compared ordinary PF, introduction during synthesis N-PF D-PF can delay curing reaction in higher peak temperatures. appropriate substitution rate improve crosslinking degree, resulting thermal stability, ablation resistance mechanical properties. highest carbon yield YC800 for is 59.81% (56.85%for PF-1), 64.39% (PF-2 58.15%). maximum tensile strength flexural strengths respective 33.86 MPa 110.42 (28.77 79.89 35.61 103.17 (24.48 55.79 PF-2). modified enhanced by have lower friction coefficient more excellent wear than pure PF.
